PictureChampale in The New Yorker, circa 2001.
Back in the late 90's/early aughts I played a lot of shows with Champale. The band was the brainchild of Mark Rozzo (Maplewood, Bambi Kino) and very much a product of the Brooklyn music scene at the time.  A lot of wonderful musicians contributed to Champale's lush/chamber-pop sound including members of Luna, Clem Snide, & Nada Surf, to name just a few.

The first three tracks below are from our 2001 release Simple Days, the fourth track is a contribution we made to a Big Star tribute album.

Champale: Mark Rozzo - guitar & vocals, David Voigt - bass, Erin Elstner - vibes, Lee Wall/Ira Eliot - Drums, Len Small/David Voight - Bass, Jason Glasser/Elaine Ahn - cello, David Knowles - trumpet, Andrew Innes - alto & tenor saxophones, harmonica
