Here's an original tune I recorded with the AKE Trio back in January. I finally just got around to mixing it.

Blargh.  I've been at this tune for a long time. Made three versions over the last couple years. Not happy with any of them but they all have their moments.  Letting go of them for now and will probably revisit sometime later.

Pearly Blue (sometimes called Down the Road) is an old Flatt & Scruggs tune which I learned while playing with The Bootleg Remedy back in NYC. It's been a favorite of mine since back then.

The first version below was recorded in a gymnasium (lots of natural reverb) with a single microphone. I love the endless quality of this version, especially with Kim's fiddle playing. It's like the tune is infinitely long and we just get this small 2-minute window to catch a glimpse as it goes by.  The 2nd and 3rd versions were recorded at home.

This is a Townes Van Zandt tune that I first heard on Cahalen Morrison & Eli West's wonderful record Our Lady of the Tall Trees.  I've been singing it ever since.

The original came out in 1977 on a TVZ album called Live at the Old Quarter.
